Novena to Our Lady of Fatima
Feast: 13 May
When to pray: Begin on 4 May and finish on 12 May, the eve of the feast, or on the 13th of any month. A novena is prayed on nine consecutive days.
Prayer for each day
Our Lady of Fatima, you asked for prayer, penance and the Rosary. Help me answer your call, convert my heart and obtain peace for the world. Amen.
Day by day
Day 1: Three shepherd children
At that time Jesus answered and said: I confess to thee, O Father, Lord of Heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to little ones.
Matt 11:25, Douay-Rheims
Our Lady of Fatima, in 1917 you appeared to three shepherd children, Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta. The Father reveals his secrets to little ones. Give me a simple and humble heart. Amen.
Day 2: The Angel of Peace
Glory to God in the highest: and on earth peace to men of good will.
Luke 2:14, Douay-Rheims
Our Lady of Fatima, in 1916 an angel came to the children as a messenger of peace and taught them to adore God. Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace. Teach me to adore God and to make reparation for sin. Amen.
Day 3: Pray the Rosary every day
But Mary kept all these words, pondering them in her heart.
Luke 2:19, Douay-Rheims
Our Lady of Fatima, you asked that the Rosary be prayed every day. Mary kept all these words, pondering them in her heart. Help me to pray the Rosary faithfully and to ponder the mysteries of your Son. Amen.
Day 4: Sacrifice for sinners
Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you and fill up those things that are wanting of the sufferings of Christ, in my flesh, for his body, which is the church:
Col 1:24, Douay-Rheims
Our Lady of Fatima, the children offered small sacrifices for the conversion of sinners. Teach me to offer my daily crosses for souls, in union with the sufferings of Christ. Amen.
Day 5: The vision of hell
And these shall go into everlasting punishment: but the just, into life everlasting.
Matt 25:46, Douay-Rheims
Our Lady of Fatima, you showed the children the reality of hell, so that they might pray for sinners. Our Lord warns of eternal punishment and promises eternal life. Save souls from hell, and keep me in God's grace. Amen.
Day 6: The Immaculate Heart
And thy own soul a sword shall pierce, that, out of many hearts thoughts may be revealed.
Luke 2:35, Douay-Rheims
Our Lady of Fatima, you asked for devotion to your Immaculate Heart, pierced by a sword of sorrow. Make my heart like yours, pure and wholly given to God. Amen.
Day 7: The miracle of the sun
And I will shew wonders in heaven; and in earth, blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood: before the great and dreadful day of the Lord doth come.
Joel 2:30-31, Douay-Rheims
Our Lady of Fatima, on 13 October 1917 a great crowd saw the sun appear to move in the sky. God shows wonders in the heavens to call men to conversion. Strengthen my faith and convert those who do not believe. Amen.
Day 8: Francisco and Jacinta
Whom when Jesus saw, he was much displeased and saith to them: Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
Mark 10:14, Douay-Rheims
Our Lady of Fatima, Francisco and Jacinta died young and were declared saints. Jesus said, Suffer the little children to come unto me. Make me as generous in prayer and sacrifice as they were. Amen.
Day 9: Consecration and peace
For a CHILD IS BORN to us, and a son is given to us, and the government is upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, God the Mighty, the Father of the world to come, the Prince of Peace.
Isa 9:6, Douay-Rheims
Our Lady of Fatima, you promised that in the end your Immaculate Heart would triumph and peace would be given to the world. Christ is the Prince of Peace. I consecrate myself to your Immaculate Heart; obtain peace for the world. Amen.
