Lent 2027

Lent calendar

From Ash Wednesday, 10 February, to Easter Sunday, 28 March 2027. Each day has the fast and abstinence rules for your country, a verse of Scripture and one simple practice.

Show the rules for:

The rules in short

Fasting means one full meal, with two smaller meals that together are less than a full meal. It binds Catholics aged 18 to 59 on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Abstinence means no meat, and binds from age 14. The sick, pregnant or nursing women and others with a serious reason are excused. Sundays are not days of fast or abstinence.

When a solemnity falls on a Friday, as St Joseph does on 19 March 2027, there is no abstinence that day. In 2027 the Annunciation (25 March) falls in Holy Week and moves to Monday 5 April.
